Bible Study Blog-Make Your Visual Summary Charts
In your Bible notebook, you will be making a Visual Summary Chart at the end of every book. You may arrange these pages anyway you wish but here's what to include:
Record the author of the book: as in Peter-The Author is Peter
If the author is not mentioned in the book, leave this blank
Record the date the book was written--you might have to do a little research to find the date
Record the key words-I will list the main keywords of the Bible in our next post
Copy the chapters themes that you listed at the beginning of each chapter--If there is more than one theme in the chapter, list them both.
Look for and record segment divisions--A book can be divided several ways--dates, reigns of kings, topics, doctrines, major characters or events and more.
Record the purpose of the book--Find out the reason the author is writing this book--
Record the main theme of the book--put all these things together to discover the main theme of the book-Themes for each chapter, author's purpose for writing the book, content of the book chapter by chapter and segment by segment and ask yourself the question? What one statement best descirbes the book as a whole.

Bible Study Blog-Note Expressions of Time
Bible Study Blog-Note Expressions of Time
Look for the Expressions of time-such as a certain time of the month, at the Feast of Booths-note these times by drawing a clock face in the margin. Time can also be found by looking for the key words, until, then, when, and after. Mark these words with your clock symbol to let you see the sequence of events, and give you a better understanding of the time-line.
Note terms of conclusion also--by the keywords wherefore, therefore, for this reason, and finally. Note these in the margin as conclusions. Note 1 Peter 5:6
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Conclusion--God will exalt you in due time-if we what--HUMBLE OURSELVES.

How to Study the Bible--The Bible Study Blog
How to Study the Bible-Look for Lists
Look for lists in the Bible--Make your lists as you read your Bible.
Look for important key words and make lists of anything that pertains to it-make your lists in your Bible Study Notebook-you can mark the passages later. List your Chapters Theme For Example:
Chapter Theme--Be Humble, Sober, Resist, Stand Firm, Exhort, Feed
2Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
3Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being examples to the flock. Draw a rectangle around the words that are highlighted. Note the word Shepherd: Make a list of the things Peter said to do as a Shepherd, namely, Feed the Flock, not by constraint, willingly, not for filthy lucre, have a ready mind.
4And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away. This is the what and who.
5Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.(mark contrast)
6Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Draw a rectangle around these words--Mark key words and phrases.
7Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
8Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, (mark comparisions) walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
10But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.(Note expressions of time)
11To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
12By Silvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I suppose, I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand.
13The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you; and so doth Marcus my son.
14Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen.
Make topical lists from Key Words--put in margin if you like or in your notebook.

Suffering
Christ suffered
Brethren are suffering

Bible Study-Mark Key Words and Phrases
Bible Study-Mark Key Words and Phrases
A key word is one that is essential to the text. It might be a noun, a descriptive word, or an action that plays a part in conveying the authors' message. A key word is one that when it is removed, it leaves the passage devoid of meaning. Sometimes these key words are repeated many times in passage to get the point across. As you mark your key words, as the same questions we had in our last study--who, what, when, where and why. For example, if someone is suffering, ask who is suffering and what caused the suffering.
Key words can be marked in many ways__find the way you like the most_this will be your personal addition to your Bible Study. You can use symbols such as hearts, triangles, back signal or any that you like. I like the use of colors, and that is why I ask you to buy your colored pencils and pens. Colored pencils and multicolored ballpoint pens with fine tips work the best. You can use a colored combination, and this is the system I like. I love the distinctive marking system. With this system you will pick a color for a certain word or person--such as red for God and Jesus-I do a cross for Jesus in red and a cross for God in red with a circle at the head of the cross--this way, the minute I look at the passage, I know what God was saying or doing, and I know what Jesus was doing just by the red symbols. You can use a purple for love and ect.--but use your own system so you will know exactly where you are at when studying. BE CONSISTENT--don't change the colored markings or symbols. This Visual aid is going to be very important in your study. List you color codes and symbols in the back of your Bible for reference in case you forget- or put them on an index card and keep it in your Bible.

Bible Study-Questions to Ask-Who What When Where How
Bible Study-Questions to Ask-Who What When Where How
As the 5 questions- W's and an H_WHO,WHAT, WHEN, WHERE AND HOW.
These 5 questions will be the building blocks for your Bible Studies.
The following list is your guide:
Who--Who is speaking?-who is this about? who are the main characters?
What--What is the subject of the event-What can you learn about the event and the people and the teaching test?
When--When will the events occur? When will something happen to a person, nation or event?
Where--Always observe where the event is taking place-such as the birth of Jesus-in Bethlehem.
Why--Why are the events happening? why at this time? Why this person? such as Why was Jesus born in Bethlehem?
How--How will it happen--How will it be done? How is laid out in the verses? Such as The virgin Mary will conceive-ask How did she conceive?
As you ask these questions while studying-take your notebook and answer the questions right then while it is fresh in your mind. Some like to mark in the margins of their Bible, and this is ok, but if you put it down in your notebook, it will be easier to read. You could mark the most important parts in the margins of your Bible, and expound on them in your notebook.
God bless you in this Bible Study

Bible Study-Begins with Prayer
Bible Study-Begins with Prayer
Always begin your Bible Studies with prayer. Get your Bible tools that I laid out for you in the last study-find a quiet private place for your study, and get down on your knees, and ask God through Jesus to open the book, the Bible to you. This prayer is not going to be a prayer for your family or anything else--it will just be for your Bible Study. If possible, pick a time when you can devote your entire being to this study and nothing else. This is not going to be a time of Bible reading--that is something else you will be doing, but not at this study. Bible study and Bible reading are two different things entirely.
So let's sum this study up so far--
1--you have bought your King James Bible with the words of Jesus in Red
2--you have bought your colored pens or pencils
3--you will need notebooks to take notes in as you study
4--you have found a quiet out of the way place to do your studying
5--you have your tools and you are ready to say your prayer and get starte

Bible Study-First Thing to do-Get a King James Bible
Ok, are you ready to study the Bible with me? The first thing I want you to do is go out and buy a good large print King James Version of the Bible, with the words of Jesus in red. Then while you are at the Christian Store, buy a Strong's Concordance. You will need both these tools to get started with your Bible Study.
While at the Christian store, buy a good set of marking pens or pencils, with all the colors of the rainbow in them. You can get these at any store, but see if your Christian retail store has them. If you aren't use to going to a Christian Store, google one for your area and visit it often.
After you have bought these tools for your Bible Study-then you are ready to study the Bible with me.
